Ustka & Surroundings – A Local Guide by STACH
We live and work in Ustka year-round, so we know where to go, how to get there cheaply, and where not to overpay. This guide gathers our tried-and-tested tips for guests — from the newly renovated promenade, through Rowy and the dunes near Łeba, to getting here by train from Słupsk.
Ustka has a direct rail link to Słupsk, a major railway hub reachable from Warsaw, Tricity and Poznań by long-distance PKP Intercity trains — the final Słupsk–Ustka leg takes only 15–25 minutes, with frequent daily connections in season. Beyond the newly renovated promenade, port and 1871 lighthouse, we recommend day trips to Rowy (about 22 km, a quieter beach and dunes), Łeba and the Slovincian National Park's famous shifting dunes (about 80 km, plan a full day), and Słupsk (about 18 km, castle and old town). As locals, our top tip for avoiding tourist traps: always ask the price before fish is weighed at harbour stalls, and eat a few streets back from the pier for better value — and just ask us in person, we're always happy to point our guests to good-quality, fairly priced places instead of the first ones on the promenade.
